Key responsibilities
- Perform ground preparation tasks including excavation, grading, and laying foundations for construction projects.
- Install drainage systems, footings, retaining walls, and other groundwork components as required.
- Operate and maintain a variety of groundworks machinery (e.g., excavators, dump trucks, compactors, etc.).
- Interpret drawings/plans to accurately carry out groundwork operations.
- Coordinate with other construction workers, engineers, and contractors to ensure timely completion of groundwork tasks.
- Ensure that all work is carried out in compliance with safety and regulatory standards.
- Conduct site inspections and assessments, ensuring proper preparation and risk management.
- Maintain high levels of health and safety practices to ensure a safe working environment for all team members.
- Monitor and report on progress to supervisors, noting any issues or delays.
- Maintain and repair tools and equipment used in groundwork activities.
- Contribute to project planning and assist with logistical arrangements to ensure efficient workflows.
Skills and qualifications
- Proven experience as a Groundwork Specialist or similar role within the construction industry, at least 10 years.
- Great command of English,
- In-depth knowledge of groundworks procedures and techniques.
- Proficient in operating machinery relevant to groundwork tasks (excavators, skid steers, etc.).
- Strong understanding of construction site safety and regulatory standards.
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and plans.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- A valid driver’s license (may be required depending on location and role specifics).
- Physically fit and able to work in varying weather conditions.
- Knowledge of local environmental and zoning regulations (a plus).
- Right to work in EU.
